In Mendocino County, Native American and Latino youth are overrepresented in juvenile detention facilities. In 2003, Native American youth represented 5.6% of the overall youth population, but 16.1% of youth in detention. Latino youth represented 25.9% of the overall youth population, but 33.2% of youth in detention.
