In Idaho's five most populous counties, Latino youth are overrepresented in juvenile detention facilities. In 2003, Latino youth represented 15.6% of the overall youth population, but 35.2% of youth in detention.

Note: Data for Youth in Detention represent the most populous Idaho counties including: Booneville County, Elmore County, Mini-Cassia County, Twin Falls County, and Canyon County. The total number of cases involving secure detention for the state of Idaho in 2003 was 5,500. However, because detention data was not collected for the less populated counties in Idaho, the data represented in this table only represents the five counties listed above. To make the comparison accurate, the overall youth population represents the five counties listed above.
