In Massachusetts, African American and Latino youth are
overrepresented in juvenile detention facilities. African
American youth represent 6.8% of the overall youth
population, but 26.5% of youth in detention. Latino youth
represent 10.1% of the overall youth population, but 24.1%
of youth in detention.
