Massachusetts: Hampden County

In Hampden County, African American and Latino youth are overrepresented in juvenile detention facilities. In 2002, African American youth represented 9.7% of the overall youth population, but 31.9% of youth in detention. Latino youth represented 23.7% of the overall youth population, but 30.8% of youth in detention.
