In Grand Forks County, Native American and Latino youth are
overrepresented in juvenile detention facilities. In 2002, Native
American youth accounted for 3% of the overall youth population,
but 23% of youth in detention. Latino youth represented 3% of
the overall youth population, but 17% of youth in detention.
