In Pima County, the Burns Institute is collaborating with the Annie E. Casey Foundation's Detention's Alternatives Initiative (JDAI). Pima County began work with the Burns Institute and JDAI in late 2004. The Pima County Advisory Board is co-chaired by Judge Hector Campoy, Presiding Judge Pima County Juvenile Court and Judge Patricia Escher, Assistant Presiding Judge, Pima County Juvenile Court Center. Pima County is in the process of gathering initial data to establish where disproportionality in juvenile detention exists.
